As the route of ancient “Silk Road”,Gansu Province is located in northwest China,along the upper reaches of Huang He.With Lanzhou as its capital,it covers an area of over 390000 square kilometers,and has a population of 25.81 million.
Typical temperature continental climate rules the area,bring about frequent storms and sharp change in temperature in summer,while winter here is dry and cold.Grain farming is the major agriculture developed in Gansu,with wheat,corn,millet and highland barley as its major crops.
The output of nickel,aluminium and copper here play important roles in China’s economy.Oil refining and petrochemical industry developed in areas around Lanzhou is quite prosperous.
The the famous Silk Road,which is the main traffic line in ancient time between China and western countries,passes through Gansu province.With rich culture resources,the province has many places of interest and historical monuments.Mogao Caves southeast to Dunhuang is a world renowned art treasury listed in the World Heritage.The completion of this project lasted for more than 1000years.Moonlight cups produced in Jiuquan have been legendary wine cups in China.
