Before Yuan Dynasty, the population in Guiyang is non-Chinese. Until the invasion of southwest by Yuan Dynasty, an office was set there for military purpose. As the time went on to the Ming and Qing Dynasty, Guiyang serves a vital role in administrative and commercial areas and became the capital city of Guizhou Province.
The weather in Guiyang is wonderful for it owns a humid subtropical climate which is featured by mild winters, warm summers.
As for economic development, Guiyang is not letting us down for its contribution in the retailer’s fields. What is worth mentioning is the supplying of hydro electric for 70% of the whole city. As a supplement, the thermal generating plants are supplying the industrial electricity usage by coal.
An integral system of transportation of Guiyang includes roads, railways, river and air transport. Besides, the public buses and taxis are also included.
In 1696, Guiyang was elected to be one of the seats of the Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate of Kweichow. Nowadays, it has the title of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guiyang.
