Guizhou
With Guiyang as its capital,Guizhou Province,which is abbreviated as “Gui”,is located on the east of Yungui Gaoyuan,southwest of China.It covers an area of over 170000 square kilometers,and has a population of 37.87 million.Minority enthnic groups takes up a large part of its population.
The average altitude of Guizhou is about 1100m above sea level.90% of its total area are covered by mountains and hills,of which 70% are karstmtopography,providing the area with one of the world most typical karst physionomy.Subtropical highland humid monsoon climate brings Guizhou plenty of rainfall.
Double cropping harvest system is applied in Guizhou.Rice and rape are common crops found in basins and southeast area,while corn was planted in the northwest.Tobacco and tussah produced in this province is well-known throughout China.
Guizhou is famous for its gorgeous karst caves and other spectacular nature sceneries as well as its rich cultural and revolutionary relics.Huangguoshu Waterfall,the biggest waterfall in China,is located between Zhenning and Guanling.Located to the southeast of Anshun is Dragon Palace,an extensive karst cave system with subterranean lakes.
