Henan ,with the capital in Zhengzhou, is located in the eastern central part of the country. The name Henan means "south of the Yellow River" .Henan is often called Zhongyuan , literally means the midland of China. located in the Yellow River valley, Henan people live where ancient people lived. Henan is flat in the east but mountainous in the west and south with Taihang Mountains,Qinling Mountains,Dabie Mountains .
Henan is the most populated province of China ,With nearly 100 million people living here. Traditionally , Henan is regarded as an important cradle of Chinese civilization where had appeared Yangshao Culture.The two cities of Luoyang and Kaifeng have both served as the capital city of a long list of dynasties.
Henan opera (Yuju) is the local form of Chinese opera which also famous and popular over the rest of China. In recent years ,Henan is actively trying to build an open economy.
Henan has three of the Seven Ancient Capitals of China : Luoyang, Kaifeng and Anyang. And is one of the provinces that has the most historical relics in the country.
