Luoyang bred the Chinese civilization as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China. It is located in the west part of Henan Province, just bordering the capital city Zhengzhou. It got the name of Luoyang because it is located in the north of Luo River.
Owning the sacred position locating in the center of China from geographically aspect, Luoyang was chosen as the capital city for lots of Dynasties. Luoyang as the “Eastern Capital” reached its peak time in Tang Dynasty together with the “Western Capital” Chang’an. Also, it experienced tremendous tragedy which almost destroyed the entire city.
In Luoyang you can experience the profound history and culture abundance by sight-seeing the following sceneries. The first Buddhist white Horse Temple was built there with a later restauratation in 16th century. You can also see the World Heritage Site, Longmen Grottoes, there. If you have ample time, you should certainly visit the Luoyang Ancient Tombs Museum.
