With Xi’an as its capital,Shaanxi Province is located along the middle reaches of Huang He,with Huangtu Gaoyuan on the north.It covers an area of over190000 square kilometers,and has a population of 36.42 million.
Hills,highlands and valleys are everywhere in the north,while basins can be found in the south mountainous area.located on the transition zone between the humid southeast and the arid northwest，Shaanxi’s climate changes from temperature semi-arid monsoon climate in the north to warm temperature semi-arid and semi-humid monsoon climate in the middle till subtropical humid monsoon climate in the south.With 1450 reservoirs and nearly 30 hydropower stations,Shaanxi’s water resources are comparatively rich.
With its long history,Shaanxi holds numerous historical and cultural relics.Mt.Huashan is located to the southwest of Huayin County.As one of the Five Sacred Mountains in Chin,Mt. Huashan,a legendary place known for its spectacular steepness,is esteemed as Xi Yue.The grand terracotta army in neat formation excavated here was built around 300 B.C. Forest of Stone Steles is now part of Shaanxi Museum.It is a treasury of Chinese calligraphy.
