Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province, was constructed dating back to 500 B.C. and endowed its name in Qin Dynasty.
Starting from1911, Yen His-shan had the control of Taiyuan for almost 35 years, during which it thrived to be an economic center experiencing the booming in industries. However the invasion by Japanese in 1937 almost obstructed the local business of Taiyuan until the People's Liberation Army emancipated it. Now Taiyuan, which is the largest coal mining center in China, is renowned for its high production in coal, cement and other chemical-industrial complex which are largely promoting the economics.
Having a semi-arid, continental climate, Taiyuan experiences significant a diurnal variation in temperature in spring, fall and winter. Luckily, the winter is dry and sunny which is much more tolerable.
Due to the natural division by the Fen River, Taiyuan has a lot of bridges for its inner city transportation. Besides, there are airport, highways and railway stations in Taiyuan making it a nice choice of tourism.
