Located on the northeast of Huabei Pingyuan,along the lower reach of Hai He,Tianjin covers an area of over 11000 square kilometers,and has a population of 9.32 million,including such ethnic groups as Han,Hui,Man,Mogol,and Korean.
Hot,rainy summers and cold,dry winters are joined by short springs and autumns in between.As one of the major northern production areas of rice,Tianjin also yield chestnut,walunt,
Apple,pear,persimmon and other fruits.Suburban agriculture is developed around Tianjin.
Tianjin has traditionally been an important center of commerce and export in north China.It has been the cradle of China’s modern industry,the center of textile industry,and is now an important industrial base.Industries here mainly include metallurgy,chemicals,ship building,as well as pharmacy and food production,of which the production of ocean-chemicals and petro-chemicals are most well known.
As an export oriented international sea port is the largest sea port in north China,and possesses the largest container dock in the country.
As a National Historical and Culture city for Tourism,Tianjin has rich culture relics.Mt.Panshan,the nature division between Beijing and Tianjin,is located to the northwest of Jixian County,There are many ancient temples built on this mountain.The Great Wall at Huangyaguan exhibits astounding architectural intricacy of a fortress.
